Ukrposhta issues a stamp “Trident of Independence” for the Day of Dignity and Freedom

To the Day of Dignity and Freedom, which symbolizes the struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom and independence, “Ukrposhta” will present a new series of “Trident of Independence” stamps. reported in the press service.
The official release of stamps will take place on November 21, 2024 — the day when Ukrainians commemorate the events of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. As the general director of the company, Ihor Smilyanskyi, said, the brand is dedicated to the fateful events that changed Ukraine and its citizens — the Orange Revolution of 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity in 2013. Smilyansky emphasized that this is a symbol of our desire for freedom and independence, which remain unchanged values for which Ukraine continues to fight.
“There is simply no other choice for us“, he noted.
The “Trident of Independence” stamps will depict the national symbol – the trident and historical seals that belonged to the state and military institutions of the Ukrainian People’s Republic in 1918-1921. This symbol, approved as the emblem of the Ukrainian People’s Republic in 1918, laid the foundation for the trident as the state emblem of independent Ukraine, which was officially adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in 1992.
The series will include images of eight historical seals collected by the Sheremetyev Museum in Kyiv, including “Seal of the Ukrainian Military Control, 1918–1920”, “Seal of the Konotop District Commandant, 1918–1919”, “Small State Seal of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, 1918” and others.
The sheet of stamps will contain 8 stamps with the denomination “U” (the cost of forwarding internal letters without a declared value is UAH 18 including VAT). The author of the design was Volodymyr Taran, known for his work on coins and postage stamps of Ukraine. Congreve embossing is used in the design, and the redemption ceremony with the “First Day” stamp will be held in Kyiv on November 21.
The “Trident of Independence” stamp will be available for purchase at Ukrposhta branches and at the Postal Market from November 21, and collectors can pre-order now.
