Journalists note that the schedule of the president’s day can change at any moment, but the main purpose of this trip is to call for an increase in military aid. Zelensky wants to convince NATO to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine, as the United States and Great Britain did when Iran attacked Israel.
The president will also raise the topic of Russia’s frozen assets. In particular, the Ukrainian leader wants these assets to finance the defense and reconstruction of Ukraine.
“Zelenskyi’s plans are particularly notable because he recently canceled foreign trips after Russia launched a large-scale offensive in Kharkiv. As Politico writes, the organizers of the event dedicated to the anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy planned to invite Russia to participate in the event. They clarified that the invitation was received by Russia, and not by President Vladimir Putin personally.
