Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump met with Emmanuel Macron in Paris

On December 7, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, arrived in Paris, where he held a number of important meetings with heads of state and took part in the opening of the Notre Dame Cathedral restored after the fire. One of the first events was his communication with the Federal Chancellor of Austria Karl Neghammer. About this informs Reuters.

As part of the visit, a tripartite meeting was held between Zelenskyi, French President Emmanuel Macron and newly elected US President Donald Trump at the Elysee Palace. The meeting was Trump’s first foreign visit since his victory in the presidential election in November. At the meeting, which lasted 35 minutes, the leaders discussed key issues, but no official statements were made after the event.

In a comment to journalists after the meeting, Zelenskyi shared his impressions, calling it constructive. The President said that the negotiations concerned Ukraine, its citizens and the situation on the battlefield. The main topic was the prospect of a just peace, which is fundamentally important for Ukraine. Zelensky noted that all participants agree on the need to end the war as soon as possible, but the peace must be fair and prevent the possibility of a return of aggression by Russia or other aggressors.

The President of Ukraine also emphasized that security guarantees for Ukraine were discussed, and the partners heard the position of the Ukrainian side directly from it, which is extremely important for further cooperation.

“Without Ukraine, a just peace and any agreements are impossible. The partners hear this, and I am very glad that they accept it.” — emphasized Zelensky.

He also noted that at the meeting it was agreed to continue work and meetings for further discussion of important issues. Zelensky thanked Macron for organizing the meeting and expressed his confidence that the newly elected US President Donald Trump is as determined as ever. In his comments, Zelensky called it a “good and productive meeting.”

“Good, productive meeting with President Trump and President Macron. President Trump, as always, determined. Thank you for that. Also, thank you to President Macron for organizing this meeting in Paris.

They talked about our people, the situation on the battlefield and a just peace for Ukraine. We all want to end this war as quickly and fairly as possible. They agreed to continue working. Peace is possible thanks to strength!”, – wrote Zelensky in his Telegram.

French President Emmanuel Macron, in turn, emphasized the importance of joint efforts for peace and security.

“The United States, Ukraine and France are together on this historic day. Gathered at Notre Dame. Let’s continue our joint efforts for peace and security!”, Macron said.

The last part of the meeting ended around 7:07 p.m., after which Zelensky, Trump and Macron left the Elysee Palace without making any public statements about the agenda of the talks.
