The number of billionaires in the world has increased by 204 people

The number of billionaires in the world increased by 204 and reached 2,769 people, and their fortunes increased by $2 trillion over the past year. About this informs Forbes.

On average, four new billionaires appeared in the world every two weeks last year, and the combined capital of all billionaires grew by $5.7 billion every day. Analysts predict that if such rates are maintained during the next decade, there may be five people with fortunes of more than $1 trillion in the world.

At the same time, 60% of billionaires’ wealth is not the result of their own work. These riches are mostly inherited or obtained through monopolistic positions and connections. For the first time since the survey began, most of the billionaires on the list received their fortunes through inheritance rather than self-earned wealth. All billionaires under 30 also achieved their fortunes solely through inheritance.

As of January 2025, Elon Musk remains the leader of the world’s richest people with a fortune of over $400 billion. He is followed by Jeff Bezos with $238.5 billion and Larry Ellison with a net worth of $213.7 billion. The top five also includes Mark Zuckerberg with $202.4 billion and Bernard Arnault, whose fortune is $167.2 billion.
