Volunteers are being recruited for the Ukrainian Legion in Poland: almost 200 applications received in the first days

In the Polish city of Lublin, on the basis of the Consulate of Ukraine, the first recruiting center for the recruitment of volunteer citizens of Ukraine to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (FSU) has been opened. In the first few days of the center’s operation, 138 applications for interviews were received through the official website, and another 58 through consular offices. About this informs Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The center is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. without breaks, and the Military Medical Commission (MMC) operates on its base, which determines the suitability of candidates for service. Volunteers are trained at a training ground provided by the Polish side. The Ukrainian side provides the volunteers with uniforms and rear support, and Poland with weapons and equipment.
The process for volunteers includes several stages:
- signing a contract,
- 35-day training at the training ground,
- further training at NATO bases in Europe.
As First Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havrylyuk said, the recruiting center is actively working thanks to the officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, seconded from Ukraine, who provide advice and help in drawing up the necessary documents.
After successfully passing the medical commission and signing the contract, the volunteers go on training for 35 days, which takes place at the Polish training ground. Further, to improve their skills, servicemen may be sent for additional training at one of NATO’s European bases, which will last for several more months.
In order to become a part of the Ukrainian Legion, volunteers can apply through the official site “Ukrainian Legion” or directly through consulates and embassies. Candidates with Ukrainian passports are invited to an interview, during which their military position is determined, documents are checked and they are referred for a medical examination. If the medical board is successful, the volunteer is assigned a contract signing date, which usually occurs two weeks after the completion of all inspections.
The center is located at the address: st. Spokoyna, 2, and works for those who wish to join the Ukrainian Legion and contribute to the defense of the country.
