Von der Leyen said that the vote of no confidence against her was initiated by “anti-vaccinators and Putin apologists”

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated, that the initiative for a vote of no confidence in her in the European Parliament was put forward by radical extremist political forces — from anti-vaccinators to apologists of Vladimir Putin. In her opinion, the goal of this initiative is to split Europe.
“We see alarming threats from extremist parties that seek to polarize our societies through disinformation. There is no evidence that they have the answers. But there is plenty of evidence that many of them are supported by our enemies and their proxies in Russia or elsewhere.”, – emphasized von der Leyen.
She called these movements fueled by conspiracy theories, noting: “from anti-vaccinators to Putin apologists.”
“You only have to look at some of the signatories of this resolution to see what I mean,” – added the President of the European Commission.
She emphasized that she will not allow these plans to be implemented.
“Another crude attempt to drive a wedge between our institutions, between the pro-European, pro-democracy forces of this parliament, and we can never allow that to happen. We will never allow it. We can follow Mr. Piperea into the world of conspiracies and alleged sinister intrigues that he attributes to so-called Brussels. Or we can clearly call a spade a spade.”, – summed up Ursula von der Leyen.
We will remind you that the vote of no confidence in the President of the European Commission was initiated by the far-right Romanian deputy Gheorghe Piperea. The resolution cleared procedural hurdles and a vote is expected next week.
