VR grants military the right to choose recipients of emergency payments

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading draft law No. 11407, which gives military personnel the right to independently determine which of the family members will receive their benefits in case of capture or disappearance. About this reported People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.
The bill was supported by 301 deputies and now allows the military to dispose of their financial support even in case of emergencies, such as being captured or missing. According to the document, military personnel can determine in advance which family members will receive benefits in such cases.
In the absence of such an order, cash payments will be distributed among the wife (husband), parents or other close relatives, including brothers and sisters, in equal shares, but not more than 50% of the total amount after necessary deductions.
If the soldier died or was declared dead by a court decision, the unpaid amounts of financial support will be included in the inheritance.
However, the law does not apply to those servicemen who voluntarily surrendered, voluntarily left their place of service or deserted.
