Washington officially recognized the use of ATACMS to strike targets on Russian territory

Ukraine used ATACMS ballistic missiles provided by the United States to launch strikes on Russian territory. The armed forces of Ukraine hit objects in the Kursk region. About this reported Business Insider, citing White House adviser John Kirby.

Kirby confirmed that Ukraine used long-range ATACMS missiles, transferred to the US, to hit targets in the Kursk region and surrounding areas. He also clarified the conditions under which Ukraine can use these missiles against Russia.

“They (Ukrainians) can use ATACMS for self-defense in case of immediate need, and now, it is clear that this is happening in Kursk and in the Kursk region. We changed the instructions and gave them instructions that they can use them (ATACMS missiles) to target these types of goals”, — noted Kirby.

He emphasized that the US has clearly defined which objects for the Ukrainian military can be targeted by American missiles, and has provided appropriate recommendations.

“We have changed approaches and given guidance on how to use these missiles to hit specific types of targets.”, — concluded the adviser of the White House.

At the same time, he refused to comment on further plans for the use of these missiles by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, advising to ask such questions to official Kyiv.
