Zelensky had a phone conversation with Trump: what they agreed on

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump after his election victory. Zelenskyy announced this in his X.
The Ukrainian president noted that their conversation was ‘excellent’ and he congratulated Trump on his ‘historically significant’ victory in the US election.
‘Thanks to his excellent campaign, this result was made possible. I praised his family and team for their excellent work,’ Zelensky wrote.
The two leaders agreed to maintain an active dialogue and develop bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, Trump said he intended to end Russia’s war against Ukraine before his inauguration in January. During a televised debate, he criticised the billions of dollars spent on Ukraine’s defence, expressing doubts about Kyiv’s victory.
On 5 November, elections were held in the United States – presidential and for both houses of Congress.
Republican Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, ran for the presidency. According to preliminary data from the Associated Press, Trump received 277 electoral votes, which exceeds the minimum 270 votes required to win. He has already declared his victory.
Final results of the presidential election are still expected in several states, while votes are still being counted in the Senate (where Republicans have already secured a majority) and the House of Representatives.
