Zelensky nominated Shmyhal for the position of Minister of Defense, Smetanin will head Ukroboronprom

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi offered to appoint former Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to the position of Minister of Defense. Herman Smetanin is to head Ukroboronprom.
“Today, I have already signed the documents to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding Denys Shmygal as the new Minister of Defense. The Ministry of Defense will also manage strategic industries.” – noted Zelensky.
He also announced that Herman Smetanin will become the new head of Ukroboronprom.
“The task is very specific, clear. Currently, Ukrainian weapons at the front, in all our operations, are about 40%. This is already much more Ukrainian weapons production than at any time during the independence of our state. The volumes are really large. But more is needed. And we need more of our ability to push the war into the territory of Russia – to the place where the war came from. So that they feel what they have done and what the price of Putin’s refusal to cease fire and true peace. We must reach the level 50% of Ukrainian weapons in the first six months of the new government’s work, increasing our own production. I am sure: it can be implemented.”, – emphasized the president.
It will be recalled that on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada passed a decision on the resignation of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and his government, which included 20 ministers. During the meeting on July 17, the Verkhovna Rada must determine a new prime minister, who will then submit nominations for the formation of the new Cabinet of Ministers. Until the moment of official appointments, all current ministers perform their duties temporarily.
