Zelensky signed a decree on the restriction of gambling on the Internet

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, by his decree put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated April 20 “Regarding Countering the Negative Consequences of Gambling on the Internet”.
Appropriate the decree was published on the president’s website.
“To implement the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated April 20, 2024 “Regarding countering the negative consequences of gambling on the Internet“, the document says.
The decree is dated April 20 and comes into force from the day of its publication.
As noted in the NSDC, the decision on gambling was made to “protect the rights and legitimate interests of Ukrainian citizens, strengthen measures to counteract the negative consequences of the functioning of the sphere of gambling on the Internet, as well as prevent the use of the peculiarities of this sphere by the aggressor state.”
The President instructed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the leadership of other military formations to immediately introduce a ban on military personnel accessing gambling establishments and/or participating in gambling on the Internet during the legal regime of martial law.
Also, within three months, the Ministry of Health must adopt and approve a clinical protocol that provides for the treatment of gaming addiction.
«The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine to ensure within three months the adoption of the state standard for the provision of social services “017.4. Socio-psychological rehabilitation of persons with gambling addiction” and conducting training for social service providers with the aim of timely identification of persons with signs of gambling addiction, redirecting them to treatment or rehabilitation, providing such persons with appropriate social services“, the decision of the National Security Council states.
The Security Service of Ukraine has been tasked to ensure that gambling organizers comply with the sanctions legislation of Ukraine within a two-month period.
