Zelenskyy signed a law on compensation for military personnel for unused vacation days

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed Law No. 4470-IX, which enshrines the right of military personnel to receive monetary compensation for all unused vacation days in the event of dismissal from service during martial law. This applies to both the main annual and additional holidays.
The document provides that compensation is provided in the year of dismissal. In the event of the death or death of a serviceman, the funds are paid to the persons specified in his personal disposition in case of capture, or are transferred to the inheritance, if there are no such persons. The law will enter into force one month after its official publication.
During martial law, the procedure for granting leave to servicemen is determined by the Law “On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families”. Before the adoption of draft law No. 9342, the military could count on only 10 days of basic leave and another 10 days for valid family reasons, which was 20 days less than the new norms.
Now servicemen are allowed to take up to 30 days of basic leave each year, and no more than 15 days at a time. In addition, they have the right to 10 days of leave for family reasons, and female military personnel – to leave in connection with pregnancy and childbirth. Leave is also provided for caring for a child up to three years old, and in some cases up to six years old, if the care requires special attention.
If both parents are in service, they can choose who will use this leave. In case of illness or injury, military personnel have the right to medical leave from one to four months based on the opinion of the military medical commission, and if treatment abroad is necessary, the period can reach up to 12 months.
