Zelenskyy speaks out on Johnson’s demand to release Markarova

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that he has no intention of discussing the issue of recalling the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Oksana Markarova, with the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson. In his interview for Fox News, answering questions about the possible replacement of Markarova, Zelensky emphasized that the issue of Ukrainian ambassadors is exclusively an internal matter of Ukraine.
“I am the president of Ukraine and I can discuss our ambassadors only with the speaker of my country. This is the Constitution. I cannot discuss this with Speaker Johnson, with all due respect.”, — noted Zelensky.
On September 23, during his visit to the US, Zelenskyi visited a plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he was accompanied by Democratic officials, including Governor Josh Shapiro, Senator Bob Casey and Congressman Matt Cartwright.
On September 25, Republican congressmen called for an investigation of the visit, believing that only representatives of the Democratic Party took part in it. On the same day, Mike Johnson appealed to Zelensky to release Oksana Markarova because of the organization of this visit.
Zelenskyi has repeatedly emphasized that Ukraine will support cooperation with both Republicans and Democrats, regardless of who becomes the president of the United States. He also announced the presentation of his Victory Plan to both candidates in the presidential elections – Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.
