AI generates up to 30% of Microsoft’s code

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that today about 30% of the company’s code is created with the help of artificial intelligence. About this informs CNBC.

Nadella emphasized that the share of code written by AI is constantly growing.

“Maybe 20%, 30% of the code that’s in our repositories today and some of our projects are probably all written in software”, — noted Nadella.

During a conversation with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, he asked how much of the company’s code is generated by artificial intelligence. Zuckerberg did not specify a specific figure, but noted that Meta is developing an AI model capable of independently projecting new generations of Llama’s own language models.

“We’re betting that in the next year, maybe half of the code will be created by AI, not humans, and then that number will only grow.” Zuckerberg emphasized.

Microsoft and Meta, which employ tens of thousands of developers, are not the only companies actively introducing artificial intelligence into the software development process. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that more than 25% of new code at the company is created by AI. And Shopify CEO Toby Lüttke noted that employees have to prove that a task can’t be done by artificial intelligence before asking for a raise. Duolingo also announced its intention to gradually replace part of the freelancers with AI.

The use of artificial intelligence can significantly affect the labor market. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, almost 25% of jobs will undergo changes in the next five years due to the introduction of AI, digitalization processes and other economic transformations.
