An investigation into persons who tried to appoint people under their control to senior positions at customs for $1.7 million has been completed

The NABU and the SAP have provided for review the case materials regarding a group of persons who planned to appoint persons dependent on them to key positions in the territorial units of the State Customs Service for the purpose of implementing corruption schemes.
Prosecutor CAP passed the decision on the completion of the pre-trial investigation in the case of two persons who tried to promote to management positions in the territorial bodies of the State Customs Service persons dependent on them for the implementation of corruption schemes. NABU detectives handed the case materials over to the defense for perusal.
The investigation established that these persons offered the leadership of the State Customs Service a bribe in the amount of more than 1 million US dollars for appointing their person to the post of head of Lviv Customs. They were also ready to pay 500,000. US dollars for the position of head of the Volyn customs office and 200,000 US dollars for the position of head of Chernivtsi customs.
In addition, it turned out that they promised to transfer to the management of the customs service half of the income received from the illegal activities that were planned at the customs. The actions of the suspects are classified according to ch. 2 Art. 15, ch. 4 Art. 27, ch. 4 Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Thanks to the coordinated work of NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors, it was possible to prevent the realization of these criminal intentions.
