Argentina will declassify data on Nazis who fled to the country after World War II

The President of Argentina, Javier Millay, ordered the declassification of documents containing information about Nazi figures from Germany who settled in Argentina after the Second World War. About this reported Guillermo Francos, head of the country’s government.
The Prime Minister noted that Miley sees “no reason to protect this information.” The initiative for its disclosure was supported by American Republican Senator Steve Daines, who addressed the Argentine president with a corresponding request.
“There was a decree ordering the release of all these archives, but it was never done. The president claims that these are archives of part of Argentina’s history and should be made public.”, — explained Frankos.
The archives of the Argentine Ministry of Defense, as well as financial data from the 1940s and 1950s, are planned to be made public. During this period, the country received about 12,000 German immigrants — this was the fifth wave of German immigration to Argentina.
At the same time, Argentine diplomats and intelligence officers coordinated the movement of German officials and members of the Nazi Party to avoid responsibility. The resettlement took place on the direct order of the then president of Argentina, Juan Peron.
