Duda is to be prosecuted for his unfortunate statement about Poles
The Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior filed a lawsuit against Polish President Andrzej Duda over his comments about a film about refugees from the Middle East and Africa. The essence of the case relates to Duda’s comment about Polish director Agnieszka Holland’s film “The Green Border”, which tells about the difficult situation of migrants trying to cross the swampy forests between Belarus and Poland – the so-called “green border” – in order to reach the European Union.
According to the Center, the District Court in Warsaw scheduled the first court session for October 24, 2025, which will take place after the upcoming presidential elections. The hearing will be streamed online, allowing the public to watch the proceedings.
Activists claim that in his reaction to the film, President Duda compared Poles to “pigs”, which caused a great resonance in society. He did so while commenting on the reaction of Polish border guards to the tape, who, he said, used a slogan known from the time of the Nazi occupation.
“I am not surprised that the border guards who watched this film used the slogan known to us from the time of the Nazi occupation, ‘only pigs sit in the cinema’, when Nazi propaganda films were shown in our cinemas.”, – said Duda, whose quotes Onet.
The Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior considers these statements offensive to the Polish people and demands that the president be held accountable for his comments.
