FBI Director Blames Donald Trump for His Resignation
FBI Director Christopher Wray announced his resignation, explaining this decision by the intentions of the newly elected US President Donald Trump to make changes to the work of the bureau. About this informs TV channel CBS.
“My decision to leave the FBI, I have to tell you, was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But the president-elect has made it clear that he intends to make changes, and by law he can do so at any time.” reason or no reason at all” – Rey stated.
He also noted that his resignation was aimed at avoiding the involvement of the FBI in a political struggle.
“I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be best for the Bureau to try to do this in an organized manner so as not to drag the FBI further into the fray.”, – stressed Ray.
He said that he does not intend to influence Trump’s choice of the candidate for the new chairman. In his opinion, the activities of the FBI are based solely on facts and the law, not on political or partisan preferences.
It will be recalled that Christopher Wray announced his intention to leave the post last month, suggesting that Trump may fire him. These statements came after Trump proposed to nominate his ally Kesh Patel as the head of the FBI. In order to lead the Bureau, Patel must be confirmed by the Senate.
