BEB returned a property complex worth 200 million hryvnias to Ukrgasbank

The Bureau of Economic Security contributed to the return of JSC “Ukrgasbank” administrative and production complex, the collateral value of which is almost 200 million hryvnias. About this reported BEB press office.
BEB detectives completed a pre-trial investigation into officials involved in the seizure of state bank funds in particularly large amounts. In particular, the former deputy chairman of the board of one of the state banks, acting in collusion with the officials of the open joint-stock company, implemented a scheme to embezzle almost 200 million hryvnias. The money was received in the form of a loan secured by a real estate complex in Kyiv, despite the lack of intention to return these funds.
To create the appearance of legitimate use of the loan, funds were transferred from the accounts of JSC to the accounts of a related asset management company — allegedly in exchange for securities. The BEB established that the ownership of the pledged object was subsequently transferred to a new creditor — a foreign company that was in a state of cessation of activity.
At the same time, the signatories on behalf of this company were persons who had no relation to it. The forged contract of assignment allowed the property to be removed from the pledge, which made further legal work on debt collection and realization of the pledge in the interests of the state bank impossible. The received funds were distributed among the participants of the ceremony.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation, the real estate object was seized and handed over to the ARMA administration. Currently, JSC “Ukrgasbank” has restored ownership of the specified property complex.
