An indictment against the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 8th convocation, who is suspected of illegally receiving over 700,000 hryvnias in compensation for housing rent, has been submitted to the court.

According to the investigation, from April 2015 to December 2018, the accused, without having the right to do so, received from the budget of the Apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine compensation for housing rent intended for people’s representatives who do not have their own housing in the capital. At the same time, as the investigation established, the people’s deputy was the owner of an apartment on Pechersk in Kyiv and deliberately hid this fact from the Apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada.
The total amount of illegally obtained funds amounted to 700,280 hryvnias. The accused stopped receiving compensation only after the release of the investigation by the journalists of the “Schemes” program.
Currently, the ex-Deputy is charged with fraud and abuse of power or official position. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
