Drones attacked military airfields in Crimea

On the night of May 16, Crimea suffered a massive drone attack. Explosions were heard in various areas, in particular in Sevastopol near the Kacha and Belbek military airfields. This was announced by the mayor of Sevastopol Mykhailo Razvozhaev.
According to Razvozhayev, at approximately 05:31 two powerful explosions rang out in the city. Later, he declared about “the work of the military” and “shooting down drones.” He reported the alleged destruction of six drones over the sea at a considerable distance from the coast. At the same time, explosions were heard in the areas of the Belbek and Kacha airfields.
There were also reports of explosions in the Perevalny area, where the 126th separate coastal defense brigade of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is located. Later, eyewitnesses told about the fire at the ammunition warehouse of this brigade. Due to ignition, according to information on the network, the Simferopol – Alushta highway was closed. Drivers were urged to choose detour routes.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Transport of Crimea confirmed this information. “Vehicle traffic is limited from the village of Lozove, Simferopol district, to the city of Alushta,” the agency reports.
Between 07:00 and 07:08, explosions were also recorded in the Simferopol district, in particular in the village of Kashtanovo. In Sevastopol, in the area of the Yalta Ring, the occupying forces allegedly opened fire with the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile defense system. Periodic explosions were also heard in Bakhchisarai, Telegram channels inform.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet released information on the number of downed drones. Later, there was a report about possible losses among the Russian military as a result of the explosion of an ammunition depot in Perevalny.
