Entrepreneurial presence of Ukrainians in Poland: numbers and reality

As of the beginning of July 2025, almost 30,000 enterprises, the founders of which are citizens of Ukraine, are officially registered in Poland. By data of the Polish Register of Legal Entities KRS, 29,044 companies are of Ukrainian origin. Moreover, almost half of them — 13,014 businesses — were created after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, that is, in less than three and a half years.

Thus, every sixth new company registered in Poland during this period belongs to Ukrainians. According to analysts, in total, more than 208,000 new companies were opened in the country, of which 6% have Ukrainian beneficiaries.

The highest rate of registrations of Ukrainian companies in Poland was recorded in 2022, when 4,780 businesses were created. This is a third more than in 2021, when Ukrainians registered 3,590 companies. In the future, the dynamics gradually decreased: in 2023 — 3,928, in 2024 — 3,424, and in the first half of 2025 — 1,644 new companies.

The highest concentration of Ukrainian companies is observed in three voivodeships. The first place is occupied by the Masovian Voivodeship with its center in Warsaw – 11,568 businesses are registered here. On the second is Malopolskie (Krakow and its surroundings) with 3,200 companies. The third is the Lower Silesian Voivodeship with its center in Wroclaw, where 3,019 Ukrainian firms operate.

The vast majority of Ukrainian entrepreneurs in Poland choose the most convenient form of organization — spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością, which is an analogue of a Ukrainian LLC. There are 27,656 such companies, or 95% of all Ukrainian businesses in the Polish register.

Despite the total number, the majority of businesses are limited in scale. Almost 10,000 companies were created with authorized capital of up to 10,000 zlotys. At the same time, only 133 enterprises declared a capital of more than half a million zlotys. This indicates the dominance of micro and small businesses among Ukrainian entrepreneurs.

The total amount of authorized capital of all Ukrainian companies in Poland exceeds PLN 7.34 billion. However, only 533 million zlotys of this amount belong to companies established after February 24, 2022. In other words, although quantitatively newly created companies make up almost half of the total, their combined capital is 12 times smaller than that of businesses founded before the start of a full-scale war.

The largest Ukrainian companies registered after 2022 in terms of capital volume include:

  • VOLYA Sp. z o. o. — PLN 100 million, engaged in the production of metal products;
  • SERVICEPACK Sp. z o. o. — more than 42 million zlotys, specializes in the rental of machinery and equipment;
  • BAZA POLAND Sp. z o. o. — PLN 14.3 million, works in the field of wholesale trade;
  • IMPERIAL BRANDS TRADING POLSKA Sp. z o. o. — PLN 13.75 million, consulting;
  • NATATRANS Sp. z o. o. — 10 million zlotys, freight transportation.

In addition, there is a rapid increase in the number of Ukrainian foundations and non-profit organizations in Poland. Since 2022, Ukrainians have created 486 charitable foundations — four times more than was registered before the full-scale invasion. The growth of this part of the Ukrainian presence indicates the desire of emigrants not only to adapt economically, but also to take an active part in the public life of the new country.

According to the official data of the Ministry of Finance of Poland, published by the analytical center Gremi Personal, in 2024 Ukrainian citizens paid almost PLN 1.65 billion in taxes to the country’s state budget. It is about both personal income tax and corporate income tax.
