Former Defense Ministry official suspected of official negligence, which led to serious consequences

Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office informed the former official of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine of suspicion of official negligence, which led to grave consequences, as well as the use of known forged documents. About this it is said in the official notification of the General Prosecutor’s Office
The investigation established that in 2022-2023, the former deputy director of one of the departments of the Ministry of Defense concluded eight state contracts for a total amount of about 3.1 billion hryvnias. During the conclusion of agreements, contrary to the requirements of Resolution No. 178 of the Cabinet of Ministers of March 2, 2022 and Article 195 of the Tax Code of Ukraine, the amount of value added tax was unlawfully included in the value of the contracts.
Such actions caused losses to the state budget in the amount of over 275 million hryvnias. Within the framework of the pre-trial investigation under part. 2 Art. 367 and ch. 4 Art. 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, part of the damage has already been compensated — business entities have compensated over 201 million hryvnias.
Investigative actions are carried out by the Main Investigative Department of the SBI under the operational support of the Main Operational Department of the SBI.
