The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the principles of the new state agency PlayCity, which was created to replace the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries. About this reported Ministry of Digital Transformation.
“The agency’s goal is to bring order to the gaming business and increase tax revenue to the budget,” – noted in the department.
The agency will be responsible for controlling the gambling market through online monitoring, ensuring a transparent licensing procedure, identifying and eliminating illegal casinos, and imposing fines for license violations. In addition, his powers will include the supervision of state lotteries, the protection of players’ rights, the fight against gambling addiction, the maintenance of relevant registers, the publication of open data and the preparation of annual reports.
The next stage will be the approval of the structure of the agency and the formation of its team. “PlayCity” will start working after the appropriate decision of the government.
We will remind that on March 21, the government decided to create the PlayCity agency, which should implement state policy in the field of gambling and lotteries. It will be a central executive body whose activities will be coordinated through the Ministry of Digital Transformation. In April, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Gennady Novikov as the head of the newly created agency.
In January of this year, Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed draft law No. 9256-d, which amends the current legislation with the aim of combating gambling addiction (ludomania) and improving state regulation mechanisms in the field of organizing and conducting gambling games and lotteries.
