Green light from the USA: the Pentagon allowed the use of American weapons in the Kursk region

The US officially allowed Ukraine to use American weapons to fire in response to Russian attacks in the border regions, in particular in the Kursk region. This information was confirmed by Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh during a press briefing on August 22.
“Our policy allows Ukraine to fire back to defend against Russian attacks in that border region. And that border region does include Kursk, it does include Sumy, and so they are defending themselves against Russian attacks within that region.” she said.
Singh also emphasized that the United States actively supports Ukraine, providing it with everything necessary for the successful conduct of military operations on the battlefield.
She noted that Washington is beginning to better understand Ukraine’s strategic goals in the Kursk region. Responding to a question about Ukraine’s direct support on the territory of Russia, Singh explained: “We support Ukraine as a whole. Kursk is part of the strategy of creating a buffer zone announced by President Zelenskyi”.
The Pentagon, according to Singh, continues to work closely with Ukraine to achieve its strategic goals on the front. These issues will be discussed at the meeting of the defense ministers of the USA and Ukraine, Lloyd Austin and Rustem Umerov.
“We continue to work with them, what exactly are their strategic goals regarding the creation of this buffer zone,” the deputy spokeswoman noted, clarifying that in this case, “the creation of several lines of defense” is necessary. “And we are working on these issues with them”, – said Singh.
At the same time, Washington is trying to better understand Ukraine’s long-term goals in the region and how they will affect the situation in eastern Ukraine.
Singh concluded that US support for Ukraine remains unchanged and military assistance will continue to ensure Ukraine’s success on the battlefield.
