In Kharkiv, a girl blew up a military unit by planting explosives in a scooter: one person died
A 19-year-old girl was detained in Kharkiv, who is suspected of committing a terrorist attack on behalf of the Russian special services. According to the investigation, she handed over a scooter filled with explosives to the Ukrainian military under the guise of “volunteer assistance.” As a result of the explosion, one serviceman was killed and another was injured. SBU counter-intelligence and the National Police detained the suspect “on hot pursuit” after the terrorist attack that took place on June 20. Then the Russian special services activated an improvised explosive device hidden in the trunk of a scooter when two soldiers were nearby. The explosion occurred near one of Kharkiv’s cafes, where the military was lured under the pretext of receiving aid in the form of a scooter.
According to the investigation materials, Russian agents recruited a 19-year-old woman from Kharkiv through Telegram channels for job search. After recruitment, she received instructions on making SVP in “home” conditions. The attacker bought household chemicals, a battery, wires and two phones for remote detonation.
She placed the ready-made explosive device in the trunk of the scooter, which she handed over to the military. With the help of a masked camera installed at the scene of the terrorist attack, Russian curators tracked the arrival of Ukrainian defenders. After the explosion, the girl tried to hide, but was arrested a few hours later. Remains of explosive components and a phone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy were found in her possession.
SBU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under 3 Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — a terrorist act that caused the death of a person. The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The detention operation was carried out by SBU employees in the Kharkiv region together with the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
