India bans imports of goods from Pakistan

The Government of India has imposed a ban on the import of products originating in Pakistan or transiting through Pakistan. About this it is said in the notification of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade of India.

“The direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan is prohibited. This decision comes into effect immediately and will remain in effect until further orders from the government.” – the message says.

It is noted that the restrictions have been adopted for reasons of national security and in accordance with the state policy of India. Any exception to this ban will require prior government approval.

In addition, India’s foreign trade department has warned Pakistan against any attempt to block the supply of river water to India, stressing that such action would be in violation of the 1960 bilateral treaty and would be considered an act of declaration of war. In recent years, trade between India and Pakistan has decreased significantly, and according to the results of 2024, the turnover amounted to only 1.82 billion dollars.

It will be recalled that on April 22, unknown gunmen opened fire on tourists at a resort near Pahalgam in the Indian-controlled state of Kashmir, as a result of which at least 26 people died, most of whom were Indian citizens. India blamed militants linked to Pakistan for the attack.

On April 24, India’s Ministry of External Affairs announced the cancellation of all visas issued to Pakistani nationals from Sunday. And already on April 30, the Indian authorities published a notification to pilots (NOTAM), which refers to the restriction of airspace for all aircraft owned or operated by Pakistan, including civilian flights and military aircraft.
