Russia deliberately hits Ukrainian cities with missiles before convening the UN Security Council: Kyslytsya

Russia launched at least 18 missile strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities, in particular on civilian infrastructure, on the eve of the UN Security Council meetings dedicated to the situation in our country.

About this stated Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhii Kyslytsia, during a regular Security Council meeting. It was convened by the Russian delegation under the pretext of “supporting peace and security in Ukraine.”

“We have already drawn the Council’s attention to the clear correlation between the timing of Russian attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine and the meetings of the Security Council initiated by the Russian Federation, such as today. This correlation took place in at least 18 cases.”– emphasized Kislytsia.

He cited specific dates when Russia organized meetings and simultaneously launched missile strikes on energy facilities and other civilian infrastructure of Ukraine. The period of such actions covers the time from April 11 to December 20, 2024.

Postpred also noted that today’s meeting was again started by air terror against Ukrainian cities, in particular Kyiv, Kherson and Kryvyi Rih.

Kyslytsia also mentioned the previous statements of Putin, who threatened a “high-tech duel” between Russia and Western countries, alluding to attacks on Kyiv using Oreshnik drones and tests of Western anti-missile defense systems in defense of the capital.

“Apparently, even Putin’s representative at the UN today decided not to mention this crazy idea, because he understands that it has more place in a psychiatric hospital than in the Security Council.” – stressed the Ukrainian diplomat.
