The Czech Republic secretly transferred equipment for nuclear power plant reactors to Ukraine

The Czech company Škoda JS, which is part of the ČEZ group, handed over to Ukraine eight new drives for the reactors of the Rivne nuclear power plant. The transportation of the cargo was arranged with maximum secrecy to avoid the risk of damage due to Russian shelling. About this informs edition of Novinky.

“Due to Russia’s repeated attacks on the energy infrastructure, we are only reporting this now that we have delivered the last cargo to its destination”, — explained Karel Samets, the spokesman of the Pilsen engineering company.

According to Samets, these devices play a key role in the stable operation of the reactors and their regulation, which is critical to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of electricity in war-torn Ukraine. The delivery, which was completed on Christmas Eve, included eight drives for two VVER 440 type reactors.

According to the contract, Škoda JS has already sent 76 storage devices to the Rivne NPP, most of which are successfully installed and functioning. The rest is saved for replacing equipment that will reach the end of its useful life. The cost of the contract remains confidential at the customer’s request.
