Inspection of the tax authority’s management: 16 out of 17 officials with disabilities left their posts
The State Tax Service conducted an audit among the management who registered for disability after February 24, 2022. The result was the dismissal of 16 out of 17 people who had this status. About this reported Danylo Hetmantsev, head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy.
According to him, the inspection, which lasted two days, revealed 17 managers with disabilities, among which only one received it as a result of being wounded at the front.
“15 people made a strong and honest decision to leave the service. However, one activist decided not to do this in the hope of connections with “someone in power”. We are talking about Chernihiv“, Hetmantsev noted.
However, he soon announced that “the matter is closed” and all 16 officials resigned.
The prerequisite for these measures was a series of corruption scandals, in particular, the detention of Tetyana Krupa, the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Center for Medical and Social Expertise, whom the SBI accused of illegal enrichment in the amount equivalent to $6 million on October 4. During the searches, cash was found on her, and Krupa’s attempt to get rid of almost half a million dollars by throwing them out the window became known after the publications.
Additional investigations revealed widespread abuse of disability status among officials. Journalist Yuriy Butusov reported on more than fifty prosecutors from the Khmelnytskyi region who have disabilities of the II group, calling them by name. This led to the resignation of the head of the regional prosecutor’s office, Oleksiy Oliynyk, and the initiation of an investigation by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The problem turned out to be national: according to the “Anti-Corruption Center”, cases of false disability were also recorded in the Kharkiv, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin resigned on October 22, and on the same day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi held a meeting of the National Security Council regarding abuses of disability registration. According to the decree No. 732/2024, signed by the president, from December 31, 2024, medical and social expert commissions in Ukraine will be liquidated.
