Due to a shortage of sunflower, the plant of the largest oil producer in Ukraine has stopped
One of the plants of the Kernel company, which produces sunflower oil, suspended its work in January 2025 due to a lack of raw materials on the Ukrainian market. About this reported in the company’s report for the second quarter of the fiscal year.
“Due to the limited supply of sunflower seeds on the market, three Kernel plants processed other oil crops, including 93 thousand tons of soybeans and 14 thousand tons of rapeseed. However, in January 2025, one of the plants was forced to stop operations due to a shortage of raw materials.” – the message says.
During this quarter, Kernel processed 973,000 tons of oilseeds, which is 20% higher than in the same period last year.
The company’s oil exports increased by 52% compared to the previous quarter and by 11% year-on-year, reaching 408,000 tons, thanks to increased refining volumes. Of this volume, 26,000 tons are bottled oil.
