Large-scale searches were carried out at Ukrainian customs: a high-ranking official was detained in the case of facilitating mobilization evasion

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies conducted large-scale searches at customs in three regions. A high-ranking official of the customs service was detained in a case related to a mobilization evasion scheme. About this reported Office of the Prosecutor General.
Investigative actions were carried out in Odesa, Volyn and Chernivtsi regions with the participation of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police and the Bureau of Economic Security.
Under the procedural leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General, together with the Main Directorate for Countering Systemic Threats to State Administration, the SBU exposed the activities of a group of individuals headed by the current deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Customs Service.
He involved officials of the public organization “International Diplomatic Mission of the Security Organization of the European Community” into the scheme, who, under the guise of the status of a special monitoring mission of the OSCE in Ukraine, set up a mechanism for issuing pseudo-OSCE ID cards to Ukrainian citizens in exchange for a “reward”. These fake IDs allowed their holders to avoid mobilization.
The official was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving 6.8 thousand dollars for the production of a new batch of documents. A notice of suspicion is being prepared for him under part 1 of Art. 114-1 and Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
