A Russian missile strike led to a complete blackout of Zhytomyr
Russia carried out a large-scale missile attack on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which led to a complete blackout in Zhytomyr. As informs “Zhytomyrvodokanal”, the city is without electricity. If it is not restored by 6:00 p.m., water facilities plan to connect to alternative power sources to avoid water interruptions.
“We are currently connecting our water facilities to generators. Water facilities are waiting for power to be restored,” – the message says.
The strike was part of a large-scale attack carried out by Russia on the night of November 28. In total, 188 missiles of various types and attack drones were launched. Air defense forces of Ukraine were able to shoot down 76 missiles, 3 guided air missiles and 35 drones, but a significant part of the enemy strikes still reached their target. The Air Force of Ukraine stated that the main target of this attack was the country’s energy infrastructure.
Zhytomyr became one of the cities that suffered the greatest consequences of this missile attack. The blackout affected the city’s daily life, leaving residents without electricity and, in many cases, without water. “Zhytomyrvodokanal” emphasized that in the event of a delay in the restoration of energy supply, additional measures will be taken to provide residents with water.
