Misappropriation of 4 million hryvnias of soldiers’ payments: in Odesa, the SBI reported the suspicion to an official of a military unit
The State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine reported about the suspicion of the head of the financial and economic service of the military unit in Odesa. He is accused of negligence, which allowed the accountant of the unit to illegally appropriate more than 4 million hryvnias intended for payments to military personnel.
It is noted that in the summer of 2023, the accountant of the military unit indicated his own bank account instead of the soldiers’ accounts in the financial documentation for two months. The head of the financial and economic service, without checking the data, signed the documents, which led to the illegal transfer of UAH 4.2 million to the accountant’s account.
Regarding the accountant, the National Police has already sent an indictment to the court and filed a civil suit for damages.
The SBI reported the suspicion to the head of the financial and economic service under Part 4 of Art. 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (negligent attitude to military service). He faces up to 8 years in prison. Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Odesa specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Southern region
