The “Drone Coalition” allocated 20 million euros for reconnaissance drones for Ukraine

The member countries of the “Drone Coalition” decided to allocate 20 million euros from the joint fund for the purchase of tactical reconnaissance drones (ISR) for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The drones are expected to be delivered within three months. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“We are grateful to our partners for responding to a critical need. The quick response and flexibility in making this decision is important, especially at a time when the Defense Forces need it most. This allows the military to conduct reconnaissance of the area and increase the situational awareness of their units, which is essential for successful combat operations.” – said Kateryna Chernogorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Digitalization.

In February, the “Drone Coalition” announced the third international tender for the supply of multi-rotor reconnaissance UAVs. For the second time, Ukrainian manufacturers were also allowed to participate in it. Applications have already been accepted, the first stage of selection is currently underway.

We will remind that on December 12, 2023, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov met with the Minister of Defense of Latvia Andris Spruds. During the negotiations, the parties agreed to create a “coalition of drones and EW”. In mid-January 2024, Andris Spruds announced progress in forming a coalition of nearly 20 countries to provide the Ukrainian military with “thousands” of new drones.

According to the Latvian Ministry of Defense, the coalition currently includes Latvia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Estonia and Luxembourg. In total, the participating countries have already allocated more than half a billion euros for the purchase of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
