ARMA threatens Naftogaz with court action over half a million hryvnia debt

The Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) has demanded that Naftogaz Group, which manages the corporate rights of Chornomornaftogaz, a company previously controlled by the Regional Gas Company associated with businessman Dmytro Firtash, pay more than UAH 600,000 to the state budget. This was reported by the ARMA press service.

According to the results of a monthly audit of the asset management of JSC SJSC Chornomornaftogaz, a violation was found, which consisted of incomplete determination of the amount of income under the management agreement. This led to a shortfall of more than UAH 611 thousand in the state budget in the first half of 2024.

The ARMA notes that the manager refused to recognise this violation and voluntarily pay the required amount to the budget.

In response, the agency issued a mandatory enforcement order, stressing that failure to comply with this order could lead to administrative liability and other measures. The ARMA also stated its readiness to protect the interests of the state, including possible criminal proceedings.

Earlier, a number of gas distribution companies in Ukraine were linked to businessman Dmitry Firtash. In June 2021, the State Bureau of Investigation uncovered a scheme under which the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine transferred gas distribution systems to private operators for free, causing the state losses of UAH 1.488 billion.

In connection with this case, at the end of May 2022, the court arrested the corporate rights to 26 regional and city gas distribution system operators and transferred them to the management of the ARMA.
