More than 190,000 Ukrainian refugees have found work in Germany

The program of accelerated employment of citizens of Ukraine and other countries who have found protection in Germany (Job-Turbo) is running successfully. Today, more than 190,000 Ukrainians work in the country. This was reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Germany.
“About 192,000 Ukrainians currently have a job and pay social contributions. In addition, more than 48,000 people work part-time.” – the ministry said.
Responding to media reports that only about 33,000 Ukrainians were employed instead of the planned 200,000, the ministry explained that this is an incorrect display of statistics.
“The figure of 33,000 is based on an incorrect presentation of data in the mass media. It clearly does not reflect the full number of Ukrainian workers.” – the Ministry claims.
In addition, the goal of the Job-Turbo program, which was launched last fall, was not to employ 200,000 Ukrainians. It was about the number of Ukrainians who completed or will soon complete integration courses and acquired basic knowledge of the German language, which is a necessary condition for employment.
The Ministry also noted that now employment centers contact refugees much more often after completing integration courses. At the same time, the number of vacancies registered with the Federal Employment Agency has almost doubled in just three spring months.
As of 2024, out of 855,415 able-bodied Ukrainians living in Germany, almost two-thirds (541,927) are women. The disabled include 289,000 children and adolescents and 117,000 elderly people (65+).
According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the average salaries of Ukrainian refugees in Germany and the Netherlands exceed 1,100 euros per month. These data indicate that a significant number of Ukrainians have found stable work with decent wages.
In addition, it is worth noting that the Job-Turbo program not only helps Ukrainians find work, but also provides them with access to various types of professional training and advanced training. Many Ukrainians took advantage of the opportunity to take courses on learning new professions and adapting to the German labor market.
In addition, according to the Federal Employment Agency, most vacancies for Ukrainians are concentrated in such fields as construction, logistics, maintenance, health care and social services. This indicates a wide range of opportunities for employment and adaptation to new living conditions.
Since the beginning of the war, the German government has actively supported Ukrainian refugees not only in the field of employment, but also in matters of social integration. In particular, many Ukrainians receive help in arranging housing, access to medical services and education for children.
In addition, the Job-Turbo program includes initiatives aimed at supporting entrepreneurial activity among Ukrainians. Many Ukrainians have already taken advantage of the opportunity to start their own business in Germany, which contributes to the creation of new jobs and economic growth.
Thus, the accelerated employment program (Job-Turbo) not only contributes to the economic stability of Ukrainian refugees in Germany, but also supports them in the process of social integration and adaptation to new living conditions.
