NEURC simplified gas transportation to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan Corridor

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP) has adopted a decision that simplifies the process of transporting natural gas to Ukraine through the Trans-Balkan Corridor. About this reported press office of the regulator.
The document provides for the introduction of a single auction for the distribution of capacities at all points of the Trans-Balkan route, covering the direction from Greece to Ukraine. It is about the volume of up to 3 million cubic meters per day, which is equivalent to the possibility of importing up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas every year.
The National Commission agreed to the provision of a joint transportation service by the Operator of the GTS of Ukraine together with the operators of the gas transportation systems of Bulgaria (Bulgartransgaz), Greece (DESFA SA), Moldova (VestMoldTransgaz SRL) and Romania (Transgaz SA).
“Such a step will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the Ukrainian natural gas market, as well as expanding opportunities for diversification of supply sources. This, in turn, will strengthen the region’s energy security in the face of armed aggression by the Russian Federation.”, the message says.
We will remind you that on April 16, Ukraine completed the gas extraction season from storage facilities. It lasted from November 1 – at that time, there were 8.32 billion cubic meters in storage, and at the time of completion, 0.68 billion cubic meters of active gas remained – the lowest during the entire observation period.
