Participants of the “Contract 18-24” project will be granted a deferment after service

The Ministry of Defense took the initiative to change the legislation, providing for a 12-month deferment from mobilization for volunteers who served under the “Contract 18-24” project. About this reported press service of the department.

The draft law developed by the Ministry of Defense was adopted during the government meeting on June 27. Previously, after completing the service, such citizens could be called up again immediately after being registered for the military. The adopted amendments to the law “On mobilization training and mobilization” are designed to eliminate this legal uncertainty.

The ministry emphasized that the postponement granted at the legislative level will allow volunteers to regain strength, and if necessary, undergo medical and social rehabilitation.

The “18-24 Contract” project was launched on February 11, 2025 for men who are not subject to mobilization. It enables Ukrainians aged 18–24 to enter into a contract with the state under special conditions. The initiative arose against the background of the decision of the Ukrainian authorities not to lower the age of mobilization.

A monthly financial support of up to 120,000 hryvnias is planned. Volunteers are also given the opportunity to take out a mortgage at 0% per annum, get an education at the expense of the state after the end of the contract, and use free medical care, including dental prosthetics. In addition, after a year of service, program participants will have the right to travel abroad.
