The Cabinet of Ministers granted the State Border Service Service access to all electronic databases for checking Ukrainians crossing the border

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decision granting the State Border Service access to information systems, registers and databases belonging to state bodies. This was done in order to improve the verification of documents of Ukrainian citizens when crossing the state border. Such a step will significantly reduce the time for document verification, as well as increase the accuracy and reliability of this procedure.

About this reported representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk. According to him, the government has made changes to the rules for crossing the state border for citizens of Ukraine, which provide border guards with access to relevant information resources. This means that when checking documents at the border, State Border Service officials will be able to obtain the necessary information free of charge and legally from automated systems, registers and databases managed by state authorities or local governments. In addition, this data may contain information with restricted access.

Melnychuk emphasized that when using this information, the legislation on the protection of personal data will be observed. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers made changes to the procedure governing the execution by the State Border Service of the mandates of authorized state bodies regarding persons crossing the state border.

In particular, from now on it is possible to provide such orders in electronic form using information and communication systems. At the same time, responsibility for the given mandate and the authenticity of the information entered into these systems is borne by the body or official who initiated such a mandate.

These innovations, according to Melnychuk, are aimed at increasing the efficiency of the border service and ensuring the appropriate level of protection of citizens’ data.
