Ukraine and Poland will increase the capacity of railway crossings between the countries

Involvement of the border and customs authorities of Poland is necessary for the implementation of the planned measures.

Specialists of “Ukrzaliznytsia” and “Polish Railways” are actively working on increasing the capacity of railway crossings between Ukraine and Poland to speed up processes and improve the comfort of passengers when crossing the border. About this informs press service of “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

Railwaymen of both countries recently visited the Mostysk checkpoint and the Przemyśl railway station, which is the largest passenger railway hub between Ukraine and the countries of the European Union.

“The negotiations took place directly on the spot in Przemyśl, where every day hundreds of women and children spend hours waiting and going through control procedures. We cannot simply “throw it at our neighbors”, therefore, together with our Polish colleagues, we identified a number of measures to significantly improve the comfort of travel between our countries and reducing delays“, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, a member of the board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”, noted.

He added that the implementation of the planned measures requires the further involvement of border and customs authorities of Poland. The parties will be in constant contact to achieve quick results.

“The concerted actions of PKP Group together with PKP PLK S.A. are a significant step towards the improvement of railway connections between Poland and Ukraine and the implementation of improvements along the entire state border,” said General Director of JSC “Polish State Railways” and PKP Group Alan Berowd.

General Director of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. Piotr Vyborski reported that Polish-Ukrainian railway border crossings are included in the list of investment projects of the company.

“Over the past two years, PKP PLK has modernized railway border crossings, considering them to be an important element of the cross-border railway infrastructure. To date, we have invested PLN 400 million in this infrastructure. We are looking forward to further joint infrastructure solutions.”, he emphasized.
