Olena told journalists that Oleksandr Pereli addressed her with the words: ‘Girl, you’re coming with us’. After she refused, he continued to insist, forcing her boyfriend to intervene. In response, Pereli’s company allegedly attacked and beat him. As a result of the incident, the boyfriend was taken to hospital with a concussion and other injuries.

According to Olena, the restaurant staff did not call the police immediately, but watched the fight. The owner of the restaurant, who is also a member of the Poltava City Council, Marianna Soliman, refused to hand over the CCTV footage to the police. Later, she contacted Olena and said that she had received threats.

The case was transferred to the SBI, and the police confirmed that Oleksandr Pereli had already been suspended from duty. In March 2024, he filed a declaration as deputy head of the criminal police department of the Lubny district department. An internal investigation is currently underway into his involvement in the incident.
