The director of the department of the Dnipro City Council and the head of a private company organized a scheme to embezzle citizens’ funds, using inflated tariffs for paid parking lots. This was reported by police and prosecutor’s office Dnipropetrovsk region.
According to the investigation, in 2018, the director of one of the companies deliberately entered false data into official documents, increasing parking tariffs six times. These documents were signed by the director of the city council department, which allowed to officially approve the inflated cost of parking services in Dnipro.
The criminal activity of these officials led to losses for the territorial community of the city in the amount of 9.2 million hryvnias. On September 13, suspicions were announced against both involved in the case. They were indicted under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: appropriation of property in particularly large amounts due to abuse of official position, official forgery based on the prior conspiracy of a group of persons, and official negligence that led to serious consequences (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 2 of Article 28 , part 1 of article 366, part 2 of article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
At the moment, the decision on the selection of preventive measures for the accused, as well as the removal of the deputy mayor from his post, is ongoing.
The investigation is being conducted under the leadership of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, with the participation of investigators from the Department of Public Security, and with the operational support of the SBU in the region.
