The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Strategy for the Development of the Civil Defense Protective Structures Fund

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine confirmed The strategy for the development of the fund of protective structures of civil protection until 2034. The total cost of the project is 789.3 billion hryvnias, most of which is planned to be obtained at the expense of international aid.

The main goal of the Strategy is to create a safe environment for the civilian population through the development of a network of protective structures that will ensure the preservation of life and the minimization of losses in the event of the enemy’s use of modern means of destruction. According to the document, there are currently 62,700 shelters operating in the territory controlled by Ukraine, which provide protection for 48.8% of the population. Of them, 54,200 are fully ready for use.

For the implementation of the Strategy, financing in the amount of 789.3 billion hryvnias is needed, which will be divided into three stages. 151.1 billion hryvnias are planned for the first stage, 181.6 billion hryvnias for the second, and 456.6 billion hryvnias for the third.

It is expected that 81.2 billion hryvnias will be allocated from the state budget of Ukraine, and the remaining funds – 642.5 billion hryvnias (14.69 billion euros) – are planned to be attracted from the International Coalition for the Development of Civil Defense Protective Structures Fund.
