The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new list of goods that cannot be exchanged or returned by buyers

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new list of goods that cannot be exchanged or returned. The decision was made at a government meeting on 1 November, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Consumer Protection adopted last year. The government’s representative in parliament, Taras Melnychuk, announced this on Telegram.

The new list includes food products, medicines, personal care products, cosmetics and detergents without protective packaging that prevents free access to the products, as well as goods that have been cut or prepared to fit the individual size of the consumer.

At the same time, the government cancelled the previous Resolution No. 172 of 19 March 1994, which previously regulated the list of goods that cannot be returned.

It is worth noting that consumer protection experts emphasise that if you accidentally damage a product in a store, do not rush to get out your wallet. Ukrainian legislation protects the rights of customers in such cases. Store employees have no right to demand payment for goods that have been accidentally damaged, they can only record the incident. After all, until the moment of purchase, the goods belong to the store, and the responsibility for their accidental damage also lies with the store. If the store representatives continue to insist that you are at fault and demand compensation, remember that only the court can determine the buyer’s fault. In the event of a conflict, do not hesitate to call the police to record the incident and protect your rights.
