The Armed Forces Command is strengthening control over appointments to rear positions
Command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated on strengthening control over the recruitment and appointment of persons to rear positions. This decision was made due to the attempts of individuals, including those involved in corruption proceedings, to use backroom vacancies as a way to avoid justice.
“Back-office positions, such as logistics, financial and economic service, medical support or support of administrative functions, are intended to effectively provide the army with resources, and not to create a ‘sanctuary’ for individuals who try to avoid responsibility for corrupt practices, bribery and other abuses.” – says the message of the Ground Forces.
The agency specified that cases were recorded when suspects in corruption crimes tried to avoid legal consequences through rear units. In this regard, a decision was made to further check the grounds and procedures for appointment to such positions.
In particular, the order to draft the deputy prosecutor of the Zaporizhzhya region Nataliya Maksimenko to the rear post of accountant was canceled due to violation of the mobilization order established by the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 560 of May 16, 2024.
“We emphasize: every position, even in the rear, requires high responsibility, professionalism and dedication to the defense of Ukraine. The rear units will not be a ‘safe harbor’ for those who seek to avoid fair punishment.” – emphasized the Ground Forces, adding that compliance with transparency, legality and justice remains their unchanging principle.
It will be recalled that on May 27, 2025, the Anti-Corruption Center reported that Nataliya Maksymenko, deputy prosecutor of the Zaporizhia region, was mobilized to the Armed Forces, despite the fact that she is suspected of extorting a bribe of $40,000. The detention took place in September 2024.
