The European Commission transferred €1 billion to Ukraine as part of the G7 loan

On March 20, the European Commission announced the payment of €1 billion to Ukraine within the framework of a loan from the G7 countries, which is financed and serviced at the expense of revenues from frozen Russian assets. About this it is said on the website of the European Commission.

“Today, the European Commission transferred an additional tranche in the amount of €1 billion as part of the exceptional macro-financial credit assistance for Ukraine, which is to be financed at the expense of revenues from Russian state assets frozen in the EU. This strengthened the role of the EU as the largest donor since the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine.” – says the message.

This information was confirmed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal:

“Ukraine received 1 billion euros from the European Union within the framework of the ERA initiative. This is the second tranche from the EU, secured by revenues from frozen Russian assets. We will direct the funds to priority state budget expenditures. In total, European partners have already provided Ukraine with 4 billion euros under the G7 initiative.”

Shmyhal emphasized that the frozen Russian assets should work for the benefit of Ukraine, and assured that the government will work on their complete confiscation and directing them to rebuilding the country.
