Re-commission for the disabled: new rules for mobilization from July

From July 1, mobilization and martial law continues in Ukraine. The new mobilization law made some changes for men with disabilities.

Mobilization of the disabled

  • It remains voluntary for all groups of disabilities, but only if there is a conclusion of the military medical commission (MMC).
  • Group 3 disabled persons may be mobilized if the VLK deems them fit for service.
  • Group 2 disabled persons can also be mobilized only at their own will, even if the VLK recognizes them as suitable.
  • Disabled persons of the 1st group are mobilized extremely rarely, even at their request.

Recommission for disabled persons of the 2nd and 3rd groups

  • Men aged 25 to 55, who were diagnosed with disability after February 24, 2022, must undergo re-commissioning within 9 months.
  • The direction to the VLK will be sent to the electronic office.

Exceptions to transfer commission

  • Disability established as a result of injuries sustained during military service.
  • Disability is associated with mental disorders and intellectual disabilities.
  • The disability is caused by the absence of a limb, hands, feet, or one of the paired organs.
    Disability is related to oncology, paralytic syndrome or cerebral palsy.
  • The disability has been established since childhood.
