The level of Ukrainians’ distrust of Zelensky has increased: KIIS poll

In December 2024, the level of trust in Volodymyr Zelensky was 52%, while 39% of Ukrainians expressed distrust, and 9% could not decide on their attitude. Thus, during the years of the war, the rating of distrust in Zelenskyi increased significantly. About this testify results of a survey conducted by KMIS.

In the period from December 2 to 17, 2024, the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted an all-Ukrainian poll of public opinion “Omnibus”, adding on its own initiative a question about trust in the President in two different wordings. The survey was conducted by the method of telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile numbers, which included random generation of telephone numbers and subsequent statistical weighting.

The survey covered 2,000 respondents in all regions of Ukraine under the control of the Government of Ukraine. Half of the respondents were asked the question in one wording, the other half – in another. Citizens of Ukraine over the age of 18 who lived in the territory controlled by the Government took part in the study.

“Although trust indicators worsened over the year, the trust-distrust balance remains positive +13%”, – note the researchers.

At the end of 2023, confidence in Zelensky reached 77%, but by February 2024 it had dropped to 64%, and by May – to 59%. At the same time, the share of those who do not trust the president increased from 22% at the end of 2023 to 36% in May 2024. After stabilizing the situation in October, the level of trust began to decline again by December, mainly due to the increase in the share of people with undecided attitudes.
