The Ministry of Defence launches psychological programmes to support servicemen and their families

New programmes of psychological support and recovery have been developed for the Armed Forces of Ukraine who are participating in combat operations and their families. These measures will include the use of scientifically based methods of psychological assistance and rehabilitation. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine announced the implementation of the programmes.

They noted that military units undergoing recovery will be able to receive support from specialists in combat stress management.

Valentyna Obolentseva, head of the Psychological Support Department, stressed that the range of psychological rehabilitation services will be available to every serviceman who needs support after participating in combat operations, as well as to their relatives.

By the end of the year, it is planned to launch a pilot project on psychological recovery in partnership with local authorities. This will allow us to test and improve the programme before its large-scale implementation.

A team that brings together representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces, NGOs and foreign partners with relevant experience is working on the development of the programmes.

In addition, in cooperation with the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U), regulations are being developed to help introduce modern standards of psychological support and rehabilitation.
